What is Certification?
Snowsports Certification is:
Accredited by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI)
Nationally recognized - all PSIA-AASI Member Schools use the same methodology and framework for their lessons and training
Achieved through on and off-snow training geared towards:
Technical Skiing or Snowboarding
Movement Analysis & Technical Knowledge
People Skills & Professionalism
Teaching Skills
Choose from any or all of 5 Main Disciplines:
Alpine Skiing
Snowboarding
Telemark
Cross Country
Adaptive
Three main levels of certification recognized Nationally
Cert 1 - Through the Beginner zone
Cert 2 - Through the Intermediate Zone
Cert 3 - Through Advanced and some Experienced Zones
Rocky Mountain Trainer - A “fourth level” for trainer development
Specialist Programs give depth of knowledge:
Children’s Specialist 1 & 2
Freestyle Specialist 1-3
Continuing Education is required to stay current and in good standing
1 day = 6 CEUs (Continuing Education Units)
