CHILDREN’S SKI & RIDE SCHOOL PRO
TEACHING GROUP LESSONS - A DAY IN THE LIFE
Children Lesson Times:
Morning meeting for child lessons will take place in the base-area specific yard or children’s ski school facility at 8:00am for pros on EDO and at 8:45 for other pros.
Start Times:
3-4 Year Olds – 9:15am-11:45am (lineup at 8:45am) and/or 12:45pm-3:15pm (lineup at 12:30pm)
5-6 Year Olds – 9:00am-3:00pm (lineup at 8:45am)
7-14 Year Olds – 9:00am-3:00pm (lineup at 8:45am)
8:00AM to 9:00AM – Early Drop Off (Instructors are assigned on a need basis by their supervisor)
Morning meeting occurs for EDO instructors
Drop-off assignments are given out (greeter, check-in/runner, rental shop help, entertainer, etc.)
Organize children in ski school yard outside and place them at their correct lesson level
8:45AM – Morning Meeting/Instructor Line-Up
Instructors that were not working EDO attend this meeting
All instructors need to be in full uniform, with ski/snowboard boots on, ready to go
9:00AM to 9:15AM – Receive class assignment, organize students for lesson, and start teaching
Instructors in the yard help organize students by ability and skill level (send to appropriate sign)
Make sure students have all their equipment for the day and appropriate info tags
Instructors fill out their class lists and hand in to supervisor
Classes leave the teaching yard to start their lesson
9:00AM to 11:30PM – Morning lesson on snow
Instructors conduct their lesson using appropriate drills and progressions
Mid-morning snack/water break is usually between 10:30AM and 11:00AM (either in the teaching yard, on the mountain, or in the kid’s facility)
~ 11:30PM to 12:30PM – Student Lunch Break (staggered – will be told lunch time by supervisor)
Students put their ski gear in cubbies and find seating at one of the lunch tables
Once all the classes are seated, instructors start to serve the kids
When lunch is complete, all the students are expected to help the instructors throw away garbage and pick up tables
Once students have completed lunch, instructors will help them go to the bathroom and get dressed. Groups should spend a maximum of 45 minutes inside for lunch.
Instructors check-in with Supervisor and other pros for any splits then head back out
12:30PM to 3:00PM – Afternoon lesson on snow
Instructors take a warm up run with students. Instructors conduct their lesson using appropriate drills and progressions; touching on concepts from the morning lesson and taking a warm-up run
Afternoon snack/water break (only if necessary) is usually between 1:30PM and 2:15PM (either in the teaching yard, on the mountain, or in the kid’s facility)
Classes take their last run(s) of the day and return to the teaching yard for check-out around 2:55PM. Instructors lead students to their appropriate level sign and organize equipment neatly before the parents are allowed in for pick-up
For safety purposes, once instructors are in the yard with their classes, they must wait until 3:00PM to check out students. Check-out may not happen outside the yard or over the fence.
3:00PM to 3:15PM – Pick-up/ parent wrap-ups
Parents are allowed to come into the teaching yard to speak with instructors about their child’s day and lesson
Instructors speaking to parents individually give summary of the day and invite guests back for another day
Clean up teaching yard, roll up fences, make sure everything is put away. Supplies brought back into the facility.
Fill out timecards and give pink class list to supervisor for payroll
